John B. Pescitelli left a message on April 12, 2024:
God bless John Patrick Flanagan. It was my honor and privilege to know him. He was an extraordinary Deacon, gentleman, intellect, and wit. Each Sunday, I looked forward to his inspirational homilies that he delivered in his distinctive voice, which captured your undivided attention. He and his wonderful wife, Eileen, were there after mass to provide a blessing for the week ahead. Through his charitable influence, we worked together to support needy families in Saint Catharine’s Parish, and Good Counsel Catholic Homes for unwed mothers. I will miss his friendship and engaging smile. The world is a better place because John Patrick Flanagan was in it. Rest in peace with Jesus, my friend and inspiration. John B. Pescitelli, President M3 Technology, LLC

My sincere condolences to John's family. I was privileged to sing with the choir at John's first Mass as Deacon at St. Catharine's. We also worked together to train new altar servers. My late husband Stan was a colleague of John's at Prudential. John was an exceptional man--a good man! He will be missed! May he rest in peace! Dee Marszalek 💕

To the Flanagan Family, My deepest condolences on the loss of your father. I worked as one of his personal secretaries during his tenure at Prupac in Holmdel. I loved working for John. He was so sweet, always smiling, always with a story to tell. Many times he would call me up from my desk into his office to sit down and just chat about something. He would always ask me what was going on and would listen attentively. Fond remembrances. I wish you all peace and love and comfort in your hearts.

Deepest sympathy to all the family. I had many lovely meetings with your dad. He was fantastic for rounding up the troups down through the years. I remember him calling with Eileen while they were on honeymoon! I have no doubt but he will be sadly missed but you can be assured that he and Eileen are looking down on you. Anne

Deacon John was to me a role model of the Catholic Christian Man. Always cheerful, fun to talk to and helpful to all. As a Deacon at St. Catharine's, he was always active in many tasks but never too busy to spend time with a good story and inciteful thoughts. May he Rest in Peace after a life Well Lived!

My deepest condolences. One of my precious memories of him was In 2001 when he read a poem he had written for the gathering to celebrate his father-in-laws, Patrick Joseph Donohoe, 100 birthday and concelebrating mass with him and the family by the stream in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Thanks Uncle John for the memories and inspirations
