Joseph D. Fiumefreddo, 98, from South Amboy, passed away Tuesday surrounded by his family.

Joseph was born to the late Peter and Matia Fiumefreddo in Brooklyn and was a graduate of New Utrecht High School. Following High School, he began working for his family at their Manhattan Butcher Shop but was ultimately drafted into the army as a Medic. He would serve his country honorably throughout Europe. Following the War, he would go back to work for his family and meet the love of his life, Eva, and the two would marry and raise their young family in Bensonhurst.

Joseph and Eva would travel the world for vacations, he was an avid fan of the Mets and loved to have his family around.

Joseph is predeceased by his Wife Eva Fiumefreddo; his daughter Cathy Vurchio; his brother Phillip Fiumefreddo; and his brother-in-law Richard Reid.

Joseph is survived by his Son-in-Law Joseph Vurchio and his wife Marni; his sister-in-law Ann Reid; his grandchildren Joseph Vurchio III and his wife Milena, Alicia Berardocco and her husband Louis, Michael Vurchio and his wife Lucia and Adam Vurchio and his wife Nicole; and his beloved great grandchildren Louis, Anthony, Arianna, Santino, and Eva.

Visitation will be Monday, April 24^th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A mass of Christian burial will be offered Tuesday, April 25^th at 9:15 AM at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. An entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
