Joseph ‘Jay” Martinho Jr., 60, of Freehold, passed away Saturday at Centrastate Hospital.
Joseph was born in Elizabeth and raised in Rahway; he was a graduate of Rahway High School. Following high school Joseph would attend DeVry Institute leaving with a technical degree and would begin his working career as a Senior Technician at NJ Bell which became Verizon. He would spend his whole career with the company.
Joseph would marry the love of his life, Nancy, in 1987 and the two would move to Freehold to raise their young family. Joseph enjoyed fishing, trips to the Sarasota Siesta Keys, walking his best friend Ruger, building model planes, he loved watching the NY Giants, Alabama Football and the Detroit Tigers and attending his children’s soccer games.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Nancy Martinho; his children Joseph Martinho, and Michael Martinho; his brother and sister-in-law’s Edward and his wife Jeanette Melando and Michael and his wife Kathy Melando; and many loving nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 31st from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A mass of Christian burial will be offered of Friday, September 1st at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck. At the family’s request he will be privately cremated following the mass.
