Carol Rooney Horton left a message on October 6, 2015:
Dearest Aunt Arlene, Uncle Joe was such a treasure! He taught me to dance, he was my favorite teddy bear for those special hugs when I most needed them - all through the years and even over the phone. I loved our special moments when we would walk to mass early in the morning when I visited and we spoke often of each other's walk with God. He was at peace and his lamp was full of oil and ready. Everytime I visited him either with my mother or by myself he made me feel so loved and so welcome. Such a gentleman. There were few kind and gentle men like Uncle Joe, I will miss him on earth, but know he is just on his new journey reconnected with his beloved Kathleen; and has already assumed the duties of walking her dog in Paradise. I thank God for having him in my life. He became a father to me when my father passed away in 1978. I love him and will always love him. Your niece, Carol

I just found out about Uncle Joe's death. My deepest condolences. A more giving person would be hard to find. I have so many nice memories of the times when we lived in Colt's Neck and of our visits to your house.

Arlene, Michael, Steve and Joseph: I spent many years helping out my Dad at Shore Industrial and had the honor of working with Mr. Dillon on fun things like inventory, billing, filing and phones. He was a wonderful mentor and pleasure to work with for almost 10 years. I have fond memories. You all remain in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you find peace.

Everytime I hear or see my lovely birds I will remember Dad. I used to raise English Budgerigars, known as Budgies. For some reason Dad called them Pudgies so it always became a joke when he would ask me how my Pudgies were doing. He loved to tease me about my Pudgies.
