June Marlene Smith (nee: Breitenbach) left this earth on Saturday, May 11, 2024. She was greeted in heaven by her loving husband, Michael, who waited 6 years to join him.
June was a local girl who was born and grew up in Long Branch, NJ and never strayed far from the area. She raised her family in Oakhurst, and moved to Tinton Falls in 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Janie Bessie and Hubert L. Breitenbach. She has two siblings, a brother, Hubert “Butch” Breitenbach and his wife, Carol, Wall, NJ., and a sister, Sandra Lebra, Port Orange, FL. Her husband, Michael passed away in July, 2018. They were married for 65 years and are now reunited.
June and Michael had two children, Dawn and her husband David Concilio and Alan and his wife, Debra (Strano). She had five grandchildren, Brian and his wife Amy (Weaver), Jeffrey and his wife, Kerry (Morganti) and Marc Concilio, Dean Smith and his wife Anna (Sykora) and Natalie Woszczak and her husband, Brad. She had 5 ½ great grandchildren, Sawyer James Concilio, Amelia Luisa Concilio, Jason Alan Smith, Olivia Juliet Concilio, Elle Pearl Smith, and another great granddaughter due in August 2024. June’s family would like to extend gratitude to the two aides that became family over the last five years, Farah Eustache and Eva Williams.
June worked at Fort Monmouth, NJ for 36 years. She worked in Civilian Personnel as a Classification Specialist, and her last job was as a Program Analyst in Single Channel Ground and Radar Systems (SINCGARS). She was a graduate of Long Branch High School and Monmouth University. After retiring, she spent her time with many children’s activities. She made her own puppets and worked with Rutgers Cooperative Extension Education Center of Monmouth County providing information on nutrition and programs such as “bullying” using her puppets. She enjoyed playing guitar, organ and singing with the Sweet Adelines International, Jersey Shore Chorus, Hazlet. June was a member of the guitar group at SCAN Adult Education Center, for many years. She played and sang songs of the 40’s and 50’s at various nursing homes. She was a trustee for Greenlawn Cemetery, West Long Branch, NJ.
She was a lifelong member of St James Episcopal Church, Broadway, Long Branch, NJ., She was the superintendent of Sunday School and a Lay Eucharistic Minister at St James, serving communion for the parishioners.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from 9am – 10am at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A Funeral Mass will be offered after the visitation at 11am at St. James Episcopal Church, 300 Broadway, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
