Philomena Poremba, 89, known to friends as “June” and to family as “Ba”, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018.
Born in Maywood, New Jersey to Maywood Police Chief Herman and Philomena “GeeGee” Herzog on June 30, 1928, she was the oldest of four children, Alice, Kay, and Philip. She is predeceased by her siblings. June was the mother of four children, Dee, Rusty (d. Shirley), Nancy (Asghar), and Andrew (Jennifer); grandmother to Rob, Katie (Rob), Jordan (Mallory), Sarah, Samantha, and AJ; great-grandmother to Alex, Kayla, Sylvie, Amelia, and Madelyn; and great-great grandmother to Bryson.
She was an avid consumer of bottomless coffee and chocolate ice cream; she enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels and knitting; and she loved ice hockey and animals.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at both King Manor Care Center and Jersey Shore Genesis. The funeral arrangements will be private. Those who so desire may consider making a donation to the SPCA in honor of June’s lifelong love of animals.
