Katherine Guiness Davaris, 90, of Holmdel passed away Wednesday evening, January 19th. Born in New York City, Mrs. Davaris lived there for many years with her deceased sister Angelica before marrying Leonidas Davaris and eventually moving to Old Bridge to raise their daughter, Chris. She was an accomplished full charge bookkeeper and office manager who was ahead of her time, being given responsibilities at a time normally reserved for men. This made her a great inspiration for her daughter, nieces, and nephews as they finished school and started their own careers. After retiring, Mr. & Mrs. Davaris spent many summers in Greece with friends and family until his death in 1999. More recently she spent winters in Palm Coast, FL, with her sister-in-law Joan Guiness enjoying an active social life with wonderful friends. She also maintained an extensive loving circle of friends in NJ and remained active volunteering, most recently with the Middletown Women's Club. Her greatest joy however was her family and friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and 'Aunt KK'. Her greatest legacy was her ability to be a wonderful, loyal friend who will be missed by so many. Mrs. Davaris is survived by her daughter Chris and son-in-law, David Laughlin, and three generations of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her siblings Angelica, Christian, Constantine, and Theresa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
