Kathleen Ann Pruchnik, 80, of Hazlet, passed away Friday at Riverview Medical Center.
Kathleen was born in Jersey City, moved with her family to Washington Heights, NY, and then to Hazlet, where she was raised. Kathleen graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy and worked for two years at Prudential Insurance Company in Newark. After that she would marry the love of her life, Robert, in 1965 and the two would raise their young family in Hazlet. She would work in cafeteria services for the Hazlet school district for over 30 years before retiring.
Kathleen was a devout Roman Catholic; she was a selfless woman who always took care of the ones she loved, especially her parents and her beloved aunt, Julia King. She enjoyed watching musicals, sharing good meals with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren and supporting their artistic endeavors. Kathleen had a great sense of humor and pride in her heritage, even being able to travel to Ireland to visit her ancestral home in County Cavan.
Kathleen is predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Mary (King) O’Neill, by her sister Maureen Bucko and her husband Raymond, and by her beloved nephew Raymond Bucko, Jr.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Robert Pruchnik Sr.; her children Robert Pruchnik Jr., and Mary Beth King and her husband Scott; her brother Hugh O’Neill and his wife Joanne; her sister-in-law Joan Bielak and her husband Donald; her brother-in-law Richard Pruchnik and his wife Mary Ann; her grandchildren Colin, Brendan and Nora King; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 2nd from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, January 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict RC Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. A burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Middletown.
