Kathleen Mary Hayes LaPointe, 72, of West Allenhurst, passed away peacefully Friday, November 17th.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Kathleen graduated from St. Al’s Academy and Jersey City State College with her teaching degree. Kathleen taught first grade in the Eatontown school district for almost 40 years. She worked in both the Woodmere and the Vetter School. In the late 1980’s she was named Teacher of the Year and received a commendation from the Governor of the State of New Jersey.
Kathleen’s first passion was teaching and she dedicated a lot of time and effort. She was always the first to be in, in the morning and last out in the afternoon. Her second passion was decorating her home for the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. In the summer she could be seen every day hand watering the multitude of flowers she planted around their property. Upon retiring, she also dedicated time and money to feeding orphan stray cats. Along with her husband Arthur, Kathleen was a member of Deal Golf and Country Club.
Surviving is her husband of fifty years, Arthur; her brother & sister-in-law Edward and Jill Hayes; her brother-in-law & sisters-in-law Paul & Barbara LaPointe and Gerada LaPointe; her nephews & nieces Edward Hayes, Jr. & his wife Jamie, Katie Keenan & her husband Mark, Chris & Amy LaPointe and Dawn & Michael Kymick and her great nephews and nieces Hudson & Maddie Hayes and Declan & Camy Keenan.
