Kevin J. Boehler, 62, of Hazlet, passed away on Tuesday surrounded by his family at Newark Beth Israel Hospital.
Kevin was born in Red Bank and raised in West Keansburg. After graduating from Raritan High School, Kevin began a career in Civil Engineering. He worked for Colliers Engineering and Design (formerly Maser Consulting) for over thirty years overseeing the completion of numerous roads, bridges, and athletic fields. Kevin spoke often about how much he loved his profession, being outside and working “with the guys.”
Kevin would meet the love of his life, Barbara, at Strathmore Lanes in 1985 and a few years later in 1987 the two would marry and start their lives in Aberdeen, eventually moving to Hazlet to raise their family. He was an avid sports fan who religiously cheered on his favorite sports teams; the New York Rangers, Mets and Giants. He was a voracious reader, gardener and loved to do woodwork; Kevin’s garden is known for being meticulously kept. Kevin was a devoted father and coach, spending as much time as possible watching his children’s sporting events. Kevin will be most missed for sharp intellect, sense of humor, and his ability to always tell it as it is.
Kevin is predeceased by his parents Tony and June Boehler and his sister Lynn Zessos.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife Barbara Boehler; his children Christine Boehler and her husband Bill McGuire, Kevin Boehler Jr. and his wife Laura, Brian Boehler, and Bobbie Boehler; his siblings Steven Boehler and Sandra Hoffmann; his beloved grandchildren Alexandra and Remi; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A mass of Catholic burial will be held Wednesday, July 6th at 10:00 AM at St. Benedicts RC Church, 165 Bethany Rd, Holmdel. An entombment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Keyport.
