Kimberly Kuhlthau Shannon, 62, of Monmouth Beach, NJ, passed away on December 5, 2023. She was born on June 29, 1961 in Long Branch, NJ to Audrey Bonello Kuhlthau and John (Jack) Kuhlthau.
Kimberly is survived by her three children, Michael (30) and his son Mason (4), Christina (28), and Katherine (26), all of whom she absolutely adored. She is also survived by her sister, Leslie Weber Hoffman, and her two sons; her brother, Phil Kuhlthau, and his four children; her closest companion and cousin, Adele Fister; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a proud lifelong resident of Monmouth Beach, where she could often be found swimming in the ocean she loved. Kimberly treasured her many close friendships and had a natural gift for befriending those who needed kindness the most. She was warm, welcoming, and made all those around her feel happy and loved.
For many years, she was a dedicated Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout mom, CCD teacher, class mom at Monmouth Beach Elementary School, and actively involved in the community. She loved cheering on all three of her children at just about every sporting event, and was devastated to miss even a single game. Family was everything to her.
Kimberly was a caring, non-judgmental woman with a lively, fun spirit. Some of her passions include hockey (especially her beloved idol Wayne Gretzky), Bruce Springsteen’s music, road trips up and down the coast, and spending precious time with friends and family.
Her funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 15 at 10:30 AM at Church of the Precious Blood, 72 Riverdale Avenue, Monmouth Beach, NJ. Following the mass, there will be a repass in celebration of Kimberly’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation in her memory.
