Lawrence “Larry” J. Duffy, 60, of Colts Neck, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19th. He was surrounded by family, friends, and music by the Beatles.
Born in Brick, Larry was raised in Colts Neck. He attended Colts Neck Grammar School and graduated high school at Christian Brothers Academy and earned his bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University. For over 30 years he worked for Merrill Lynch, now Bank of America, ending his career as a Project Manager in Retirement Systems.
Community oriented, Larry was a distinguished volunteer and former chair of the Colts Neck Fair Committee and treasurer of the Colts Neck Volunteer Fire Department in 2022.
Larry was an avid photographer. He enjoyed photographing his family (dogs included), special events for friends, and the scenery during family vacations. He and his family traveled three times to Ireland, where Larry liked driving the countryside. He was a member of the bands Bad Neighbors and Ben Barks, often playing at the Colts Neck Inn. Larry created gourmet meals with his family, no recipes, by taste and smell and every night watched Jeopardy.
Larry is predeceased by his father, John in 2012; his brother Michael and sister Susan Duffy Schatzle both in 2015.
Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Karen; his son Christopher; his mother Agnes; his in-laws Charles and Joan Willever; and his brother- and sisters-in-law: Jim Schatzle, MaryAnn Duffy, Anne Ehrhart, and John Ehrhart.
Visitation Wednesday, May 24th 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, May 25 th 10:00 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck.
