Leonard Fred Bruno, Sr., 99 of Eatontown, died on Sunday, September 5th.
He was born and raised in Long Branch. Shortly after graduating from high school, he went to work at Fort Monmouth, where he met his wife, Carmella. Leonard then served his country honorably in the Army during WWII. Upon his return from the service, he began a family and began his career as a police officer for the City of Long Branch, where he retired from after 27 years.
He enjoyed visiting Monmouth Park, cooking, and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Joseph Bruno, his wife, Carmella, his siblings Frank and Joe Bruno, and Rose Deige, and his grandchild Bobby Eidel.
Surviving is his son, Leonard Bruno, Jr. and his wife Micki LoMonaco of Monmouth Beach, daughter Mary Jo and her husband Jack Eidel of Lakewood, his sister Susie Campione, his granddaughter Jacqueline and her husband Chris Deresz of Brick, great-grandchildren Gianna and Isabella, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday, September 9th from 5-8pm at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 10th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Prospect Street, Long Branch. Burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
