Lois W. Fliedner, 85 formerly of Long Branch and West Long Branch, died on Saturday June 17th at the Norwegian Christian Home, Brooklyn.

Mrs. Fliedner was born in Long Branch and lived there and West Long Branch for many years before moving to Skytop, PA and later Tinton Falls. Mrs. Fliedner moved to Brooklyn to be closer to their sons in 2014.

She was a 1953 graduate of Beaver College, Jenkintown, PA. In 1953 she began her career for the Long Branch Board of Education as an Elementary teacher, retiring in 1991.

Mrs. Fliedner was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Long Branch, where she was active in all aspects of the church. Lois was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the Chairwoman of the evening department of the Long Branch Women’s Club.

Lois loved the beaches and ocean in Long Branch, sailing with her husband Roy as well as gardening.

Surviving is her husband Royal E. Fliedner whom she married August 22, 1953; sons, Todd W. Fliedner, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Marc J. Fliedner and Steven Fisher, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn; her grandchildren, Dylan Hansen-Fliedner and Julianna Hansen-Fliedner and their mom and grandma, Donna Hansen and Vesla Hansen.

Visitation Tuesday June 20th 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral services Wednesday, June 21st, 11 am at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Broadway and Washington Street, Long Branch. Interment Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
