Louis T. Mendini, 82 of Holmdel, died at the Jersey Shore Medical Center on Saturday, Dec. 30^th.

He was born in Pottsville, Pa. and was raised in Morganville. He was a graduate of Freehold Regional High School and attended Trenton State College before becoming a student in the Apprentice Contractor program of the masons. He went on to start his own company, Applegate and Mendini Mason Contractors, Holmdel. Building many of the homes in Holmdel and Colts Neck as well as working around Monmouth County.

His grandkids sporting events were his passion, never missing any event they were participating in, he was their greatest fan. Lou was an avid New York Yankee fan as well as a historian of Yankee facts. He loved watching all sports on tv. After retirement he and his wife Suzanne traveled to Italy, Ireland and took several cruises to Bermuda. When at home, he enjoyed being with his family and having dinner out at Huddy’s, Colts Neck, Federici’s in Freehold, Vic’s in Bradley Beach and Yesterday’s Café, Hazlet. Lou loved to read, especially any history he could find on Marlboro Township. He enjoyed the challenge of the daily Sudoko puzzle in the Asbury Park Press. He had a strong work ethic, was an honest compassionate man whether it be with his family, business associates or friends, he was always kind.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Suzanne F. Mendini; two children and their spouses, Karen and Michael Gianforte, Brielle and John and Emily Mendini, Holmdel; his sister Arlene Crowe, Brick; his grandchildren, Patrick and his fiancee Erin, Brian and girlfriend Victoria, Megan and her fiancee Chris, Erin, Johnny, Connor and Grace.

Visitation Tuesday, Jan. 2, 4 to 8 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, Jan. 3^rd, 9:15 am at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
