Ho appreso la notizia con grande dispiacere. È difficile trovare le parole in momenti come questo. Il suo ricordo resterà vivo in chi ha avuto la fortuna di conoscerlo e di condividere anche solo un tratto di strada insieme./I was deeply saddened to hear the news. It is difficult to find the right words at times like this. His memory will live on in those who had the fortune to know him and to share even a part of their journey together.

I first met Luciano in July 2008 during my first day in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit. He arrived for his usual afternoon gym session and immediately made me feel welcome, introducing me to the group. Although I initially found his strong Italian accent challenging to understand, he quickly became one of my closest friends in the program. Luciano consistently showed generosity to the staff and was known for his exceptional eggplant parmigiana, a favorite at potlucks. Whenever the group needed anything, Luciano provided it. Marietta, I, and the entire group felt fortunate to have his support. Despite significant heart and lung challenges, Luciano persevered. He once shared that most of his friends had passed away, which left him fearful. I encouraged him to stay resilient, continue attending the gym, and maintain a healthy diet. Compared to his peers, Luciano felt fortunate to remain active - driving, cooking authentic Italian meals, dining out, visiting bars, and spending time with Marietta and me. He deeply valued his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and often expressed gratitude for their care. Luciano was modest and found joy in simple pleasures. For Christmas and birthdays, he requested only vitamins, which I was happy to provide. He frequently discussed politics and his disagreements with certain parties. I often agreed, even if I did not always fully understand his views. I will deeply miss Luciano, his vibrant energy, and even his frequent health complaints. He was content with what he had and always prioritized others, especially his tenants. Although he was financially secure, Luciano remained humble and never boasted. His absence will be profoundly felt. During lunch one day, Luciano told me that when his time came, he wanted it to be simple, quick, without drama, and without pain. I believe his wish was granted. Luciano, we will miss you dearly. My husband Dante, my son Ken, and my daughter Tina will always remember their Italian Grandpa.
