Madeline Dorothea 'Houli' Houlihan, 77, of West End, passed away, Wed. September 1st at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Madeline joined the Maternity Staff in 1952 at Riverview Medical Center after graduating from NY Foundling Hospital. She retired in 1999 after 47 years in nursery as an LPN. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael's RC Church, West End and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Prayer Chain. Madeline was born in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. She lived all her life in West End and for 67 years on West End Avenue. She lived with her niece and her husband; Catherine Howe Stewart and Brian Stewart. The lights of her life were her grandnephews, Christopher and Liam Stewart; and her grandniece Nora Stewart. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Catherine Houlihan; her brothers, John and Joe Pat; her sisters Agnes Houlihan Howe and Mary Ann Houlihan Walton. Also surviving Madeline is her sister and brother-in-law, Clair Houlihan James and Robert James, Sr. , Boynton Beach Fla.; a cousin Sister Angelica of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkhill, NY; 9 nephews and 12 nieces as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 3rd, 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch, NJ. Funeral mass will be celebrated Sat., Sept. 4th, 10:00 AM at St. Michael's RC Church, Ocean Ave., Long Branch. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
