Ms. Coseglia was my elementary school principal- she was kind and wonderful. I just turned 40, however, I will never forget her warm beautiful smile and the way she cared about her students. She was an important figure and female role model in my childhood and I’m so glad that she went on to live a long and beautiful life. She was a lovely woman. God rest her soul. She left her mark on so many of our hearts forever.

I was curious to see if I could find some of my teachers and principles from my childhood when I stumbled on this page.... and then was sad to see it. Ms Coseglia was my principal at P.S 35 Clove Valley from the years of 1987/88 ( first grade) to 1991/92 ( fifth grade ) . I remember her as a strong and stern woman, yet very gentle , kind and loving . She had our numbers so to speak , even the teachers ; ).... I remember how she took a liking to speaking with my grandmother in Italian , as my Nonna really couldnt speak much English and they were close in age . I remember when I was brand new at P.S 35 . We had just moved to Staten Island and I was scared of my new school and environment. So scared I couldn't finish my " hot lunch " . I broke into tears because I felt I had done something wrong . Ms Coseglia kindly reassured me I did nothing wrong and even sat down with me alone as I finished eating , while the rest of the grades had gone back to class . She cried out in laughter when she discovered I put a bread roll into my pocket . Looking back at it now I am laughing myself. She sat there talking with me and telling me to take my time. She told me how her parents and grandparents were also from Italy . I'll never forget how loving she was . She really loved her job ...She really loved children . It showed immensely. God bless you Ms Coseglia.

Mrs. Coseglia was a guide and teacher, she taught us, prepared us and led us down the path of life. She has moved on and is paving another path for us to follow. When my time comes, I will look for the path laid out by Mrs. Coseglia, for I know it will lead to the right place. God Bless you Mafalda Coseglia, rest in peace.
