Marietta Origeneza Belen, 86, passed away on April 16, 2025.
Marietta was born and raised in the Philippines, the youngest child of Rafael Origeneza and Monica Glinoga and sister to Corazon, Azuncion, Pedro and Julita. She graduated high school at the age of 14 and continued her education at Far Eastern University fulfilling her dream of becoming a doctor. She met her husband, Garibaldi, while training and living with his aunt in Brooklyn, NY. The two married in 1968 and moved to Festus, Missouri in 1975 to raise their young family. She was the first female physician in the area and maintained her solo practice for over 30 years. She was a beloved member of the community having cared for generations of families.
Marietta was an avid cook and gardener. She would proudly give tours of her rose garden to visitors followed by a home cooked meal. She enjoyed spending time with her family, highlighted by a family cruise including all of her children and grandchildren to the Bahamas in December 2019.
Marietta is survived by her loving husband Garibaldi; her son Gary Belen, and daughters Karen Henroid and her husband Dan and Kristin Belen and her husband Greg as well as her beloved grandchildren Dax, Ronan, Quinlan, Fiona, Henry and Isobel.
