Martin Herbert Funt, age 84, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday evening, March 18th, with his loving family around him. He was a pillar of strength and the embodiment of love, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him.
Martin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Selma and Benjamin Funt on May 9, 1941. He lived and raised his five children in Marlboro, NJ, where he served as Commissioner of the Marlboro Soccer Association, and helped grow the Marlboro recreation soccer program to the benefit of hundreds of children in the community. He later moved to Florida, where he ultimately retired and became a full-time Miami Heat fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, his five children, Barry, Bonni, Stacy, Mikki and Andrew, as well as nine grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Moishe” by his friends and “Poppy” by his grandchildren. He loved his family fiercely.
A service will be held on Sunday, March 22nd at 12:00 PM at The Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch, NJ 07740. A burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
