Mary DeSantis, 75, of Long Branch passed away unexpectedly while at her beloved lake house in Maine on October 9, 2023.
Born January 27, 1948, Mary lived in Short Hills where she went to St. Rose Grammar School and Millburn High School. Mary then went to Monmouth College where she earned two degrees and met Frank, her husband of 52 years. Mary earned her Master’s degree from Seton Hall University.
After college, Mary went to work for Chubb & Son Insurance Company in Short Hills and eventually transferred to the New York City location.
She and Frank married in 1971 and soon after Mary went to work at Riverview Hospital and then to the State of New Jersey Personnel Department until retirement. After retirement, she and Frank spent their time between New Jersey, Maine and Florida all the time making her famous afghans and baby blankets.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Alvin Emerson Wunderlich and Catherine Seward Wunderlich, her father-in-law Edward DeSantis and his wife, Marion; her mother-in-law Mary Marra DeSantis; her brothers-in-law Todd Grimm and Edward DeSantis, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Frank DeSantis, her sisters Jane Grimm and Sally (John) Gibbons; her nieces and nephews Stephanie & Mike Sharon and their children Christina, Zack & Taylor; Andrew Grimm; Colin & Ashley Grimm and their children Carter, Paige and expecting baby shortly; Cate & Ed Gallagher and their children Emily and Ben; Allison & Tyler Ellis and their children Aden and Luke and her brother-in-law & sister-in-law David & Danielle DeSantis.
Visitation Friday, October 20th 4:00pm – 8:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral service Saturday, October 21st 11:00 am at the funeral home.
