Mary Henderson, 81, of Holmdel, died on Wednesday, September 14.
Mary was born in Long Branch and raised in Holmdel, later moving to Matawan where she and her husband raised their children for many years before moving back to Holmdel. She graduated from Trenton State College and has a Masters degree from Kean University. Mary taught in the Old Bridge Township Public School System as an elementary and special education teacher.
She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world and went on numerous cruises and trips throughout her lifetime. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed going to shows, concerts, reading novels, cooking and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Hanson.
Surviving is her loving husband, Robert, her two children Bruce and his wife Carolyn Henderson of Holmdel, and Susan and her husband Alan Kick of Metuchen, and four beloved grandchildren Gillian, Julia, Griffin, and Brandon.
Visitation, Monday, September 19 from 4pm – 8pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 20 at 10am at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
