Mildred Scarpati, 97, of Colts Neck, died on Tuesday, February 11.
Mildred was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Maria and Enrico Tomasuolo. She worked as a waitress in Manhattan for some time before marrying and starting her family. Mildred and her husband raised their family in Brooklyn, where Mildred resided until 4 years ago when she moved to Colts Neck.
Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family most of all, and showed her love by cooking big meals daily, and even bigger meals during the holidays. She was a devout catholic and parishioner of The Shrine Church of St. Bernadette for most of her life.
Mildred is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Anthony Scarpati, and her son, Leonard Scarpati.
Surviving are her children Henry and his wife Patricia Scarpati of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Margaret and her husband Sal Sciandra of Colts Neck, her 7 grandchildren Anthony, Michael, and Gregory Scarpati, and Anthony, Sal, Peter, and Stephen Sciandra, 10 loving great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 13 from 4pm – 8pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, February 14 at 9:45am at the Shrine Church of St. Bernadette, Brooklyn. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
