He was a graduate of Hobart College, in Geneva, new York. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was a Vice President for Merck Pharmaceuticals, in Rahway. He was predeceased by his wife Henrietta, in 2004. He is survived by his children, John F. Linney of Freehold, Jean Ann Linney of South Bend, Indiana, Christine Cittadino of Freehold, Melissa Freedman of Colts Neck, and his 9 grandchildren.
