Paula Bass, 82, of Oakhurst, died on Monday, July 7.

She was born in Long Branch in 1943 to the late Rosalie and Milton Goodman.

Paula enjoyed playing mahjong, canasta, and relaxing on the beach, especially Loch Arbor/Breakwater Beach Club. Most of all, Paula enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Stevens Bass, her two sons Jonathon and his wife Jacqueline Bass of Westfield, Seth and Brooke McKee-Bass of Neptune, her sister Betty June Feuchtwanger, and five beloved grandchildren Hannah, Benjamin, Sophie, Jonah, and Noa.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 11am at Agudath Achim Cemetery, West Bangs Avenue, Neptune.

The family will be observing shiva at Heritage Village 777 West Park Avenue (community room) following the burial with a minyan at 7:00 PM. Thursday, July 10 the family will be receiving guests in the community room starting at 4:00PM with a minyan at 7:00 PM. On Sunday July 13, shiva will be held at 15 North Wickom Drive, Westfield at 5:30 PM with minyan at 7:30 PM.

In lieu of traditional remembrances, Paula’s family asks with gratitude that donations in her memory be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org)

My heart cries out for Paula as I knew her well in my younger days. Not only was she a favorite, but Paula was my girlfriend for a few years when I was about ten or eleven (I started out early!). Sending love and healing to your family

Words cannot express the sadness upon learning of Paula’s passing. I went through school with her and remember her parents. I would often see her at OT school events as both of us had sons in school at the same time. Such a lovely person. Sincere condolences to her family.

My earliest memories include my grandparents friends from down the street that were Paula’s parents ( Rosalie and Milton). She and my mom were best friends all growing up and all of their lives. I played with her kids in the cul de sac and our families stayed in touch for all these years. Such a lovely lady. She will be missed. xo

A very special friend for over 80 years, since we were toddlers on Royal Place. Kept in touch for our whole lives, although we moved to NC in 1972. She was a precious person and I will miss her dearly.

The beautiful childhood memories of Paula’s gentle kindness to me, a younger cousin, are etched in my heart. I’m so sorry to hear that she has gone! May her memory be a blessing and comfort come to each mourner. I’m so sorry.
