Peter Griffith, 56 of Long Branch, passed away on Friday, July 15th after fighting a short but courageous battle with cancer. Peter was born and raised in Long Branch before moving to Bradley Beach 34 years ago with his long time companion Ann Cooperstein. He was honorably discharged after serving in the National Guard. Peter retired from working as a commercial fisherman and driver for Trinity Seafood in Asbury Park. Peter loved spending his free time fishing, crabbing, going to casinos and flea markets and yard sales. Peter had a passion for meeting people and believed it was important to know everyone’s name and to greet them with a firm handshake or gentle hug. Peter will be dearly missed by many that loved him. He is predeceased by his loving step father, James Keen. Surviving are his beloved mother, Jennie Yahara Keen; and his siblings and their spouses, Robert Fenton, Deborah and William Brown, Edward Griffith, David and Virginia Griffith, Thomas and Christine Parnell, and Teresa and Jason Wells; and his long time companion, Ann Cooperstein; his stepchildren, David and his wife Corie, Sharon and her husband Scott, Marc, Michael and his wife Megan; his step grandchildren, Jessie, Evan, Madelyn, Avary, Asher, and Chloe; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
