I just learned of Rick's passing. Rick was my roommate in San Francisco before he got his own place. We had so many good times in Tahoe, Las Vegas golfing and I visited him down in LA. He was like an older brother and I really miss him. Wish we could have connected more . Rick had a great community of friends while he was in San Francisco and was so loved. My condolences to his family. Mike Tighe

Dear Susana, Samantha and Elle, So very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He sure was a great guy and I remember the day that he was born being that he and his family grew up to be very close neighbors. I never saw him too much in his later years however we all had a great time growing up together playing sports with each other and he was very good at any sport that he participated in. He was a particularly excellent skier and golfer among all the other activities that he did. Rick always had a great zest for life and I will always remember his wonderful smile just like the tribute video. He sure loved his family and his friends. He was a naturally good person and the tribute video sums it all up about his life. I was very glad to know him and he sure left a great legacy among his family, friends and colleagues. Our Shepard family send our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to all the extended Niehaus family as well. We will always remember Rick filled with fond and joyous memories of him.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Dear Susan, Sam and Elle,
The tragic and sad news we received via Christiane still fills us with grief and sorrow. All of our thoughts and prayers are with you from the remote. Rick has left all of us far too young and we can hardly guess how much he will be missed. But he has clearly left his mark - as a great husband, a great father and as a family man. We will always keep the great memories of being together in our hearts. We can only wish you peace and comfort during these hard times, but we know that we will meet again. As the Niehaus and Bartels family we know very well how powerful family spirit can be - may this spirit always be with you. Our deepest sympathy sends Hermann & Monaika Bartels with Christoph, Ruth and Sabine.
Dear Susan, Sam & Elle,

So very sorry to hear about Rick's passing. Sending my deepest condolences for your loss. I have many fond memories of visiting the Niehaus family on Sunday afternoons with my parents. Wishing you peace and comfort for your loss.
Rick will be dearly missed. Great father, great husband, Great leader, Great person, and always full of energy. Worked with Rick quite bit in 90s but always managed to get some golf and tennis in. Will not forget tennis at the bubble at seaport working in Manhattan. One thing Rick always wanted was a family so happy he was able to meet Susan and build a beautiful family. I never thought the last time I would see him was at his 60th birthday. Over thirty years of great memories. Rest in Peace!
Love Pete and Anna

My deepest condolences to the Niehaus family and friends of Rick. I’m so very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories you have and the love you all shared.
I've been blessed to have so many wonderful memories of Rick. They began while Rick was managing the Starr Tech west coast operation, and I was at LIU where we often competed for the same business.
We met the first time in Chicago and ever since formed what I believe was a mutual admiration that grew significantly when he joined LIU shortly thereafter. I worked with him and for him for over 20 years and was fortunate to call him a great colleague but more importantly a great friend.
You will be so missed. Until we meet again.
Our heartfelt condolences to Susan & Kids, may the soul of Rick rest in eternal peace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 We wish you and your kids peace and comfort as you grieve the loss of your beloved Rick 😔🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sending our love and deepest sympathies to your family. Rick was an extremely caring and kind man. Know that no matter where you are, he will always be watching over you. Our love and support will always be here for you. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
My deepest condolences to Susan and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My thoughts and prayers, with Susana, Smantha, Elle and Rick's extended family. Rick was a good person, kind, a gentleman. He always had a positive attitude to challenges and adversity in work and in life. I had the privilege to work with him over the 10 years I am in Liberty when I started in Brazil. He was a believer and a supporter of our West Region, and a driver of our consolidation and strengthening within Liberty Specialty Market. He is a reference within the Technical Insurance Industry and his legacy will continue to inspire the next generations. Rick was always open doors for a talk, an advice or an opinion. Even on the disagreement we found our way to work as a team. He was a FIGHER. Looking from the other side of the fence, he most precious treasure and what was most proud of was always his beloved family. Will miss the person, will miss the friend.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
