Rite Durante of Middletown, NJ passed away on Wednesday, May 7, at Riverview Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Staten Island, NY and has resided the past 37 years in the Oak Hill section of Middletown. She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degree from Hunter College in New York City and taught early childhood grades in the New York City Board of Education for 25 years. She was very active in her church, St. Catharine's of Holmdel where she taught religious education, and was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist and was a member of the Caring Ministry. She is survived by her husband, James (Jim) of 57 years and her four sons, Patrick and his wife Claire of Kalamazoo, MI; Thomas and his wife Alice of Pittsburgh, PA; Robert and his wife Anne of Middletown, NJ; and John and his wife Sandra of Upper Saddle River, NJ. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren: Patrick and Claire's children: Lauren Larkin and her husband Joe; Missy, Julie and Danny; Thomas and Alice's children: Lisa, Nicky, Joe and Nadia; Robert and Anne's children: Colette and Luke; John and Sandra's children: Matthew, Sofia and John. She is also survived by her sister, Eva Romagnano. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ, 07733. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 9:15AM at St. Catharine's R.C. Church 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, NJ. Burial will be immediately following at St. Gabriel's Cemetery 549 County Road 520, Marlboro, NJ 07746. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Catharine's Church, P.O. Box 655, Holmdel, NJ 07733.

She has been such a dear friend for so many years since our meeting in Bishop Memorial High School.
