Roberta M. Salter, 90 of Long Branch, died Monday, May 11th at Monmouth Care Center, Long Branch. Mrs. Salter was born and raised in Waynesville, NC and has lived in Long Branch for many years. She was an active member at St. Luke's United Methodist Church; where she was a member of the 49'ers Circle, and a member of the United Methodist Women of St Luke's. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Neptune Hose Fire Company. Mrs. Salter was a supervisor at E.A.I. in West Long Branch. She and her late husband Fred H. Salter Sr. were active in the 87th Acorn Division of the Army and traveled each year to the annual convention. Roberta loved attending the Moody Family reunions each year in Maggie Valley, NC. She enjoyed spending many days at Monmouth Park and even referred to the track as her second husband! She will be missed walking throughout Long Branch in her six inch heels. Mrs. Salter was pre-deceased by her husband Fred H. Salter Sr. who died in 1993, and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Speck Salter, who died in 2004. Surviving are her sons, Fred H. Salter Jr., and Wayne; her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Daniel Speck; her grandchildren Kimberly and Joe Walker, Carrie and Carl Griffin, Jamie and Doug Dietz, Kelly Speck, Chad and Stefanie Salter, and Tracey and Fred Cistaro; and her great-grandchildren, Jake and Aidan Walker, Hailey and Connor Dietz, Dominic and Luke Cistaro, and Cassandra Salter. Mrs. Salter spent her life taking care of her family. She was the thread that built her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her number one priority. Visitation is Thursday, May 14th 2-4 and 7-9 at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral service is Friday at 11:00am, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 535 Broadway, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
