Roger and Jim were friends of my parents, Harold and Margaret McCormick, through their friendship with the Quashnocks. Roger was much loved and was fortunate to have found such a caring life companion as Jim. Bless all their hearts.
Elberon summers and the big green house
You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers.
Jim - When the Williams family reminisces about the good times we had at our Elberon home, we can't help but think about you and Roger and all the fun we shared. We also will never forget the caring and concern from both of you when our dad was ill many years ago and the many funny cards he received from you both. Roger had a life well lived and will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jim at this sad time. Bob Williams, Joyce Williams Schuetz and Kay Williams Hansen.
Dear "Uncle" Roger, Yes having know someone for so many years and spent so much time with him that I can call him family and uncle. I'm now 59 and have know uncle Roger since I was 10. Since I was a child I've had the privilege of knowing his kindness, understanding, unconditional love, witty sense of humor and practical jokes that gave more meaning to life. He was always fooling around like the kid he was and someone that we all wanted to be more like. We will never forget you. I love you uncle Roger and look forward to the day when I can give you another big hug in Heaven.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
I never had the privilege of meeting you, Roger - but I knew your partner very well. A wonderful man who spoke so highly of you. Rest in peace but prepare for a wonderful reunion with Jim and all your friends when the good Lord is ready.
Warm thoughts of a good friend.
Come down, Roger...Life is entertainment...Everything goes...
My memories are from growing up in Cokato. Your parents Ella and Adler were good friends of my Mom Hannah and Dad Algot along with my sister Marilyn who graduated 4 years later while I graduated 9 years later. I remember the "chicken yard" in the back of your home where you put on plays and had us little kids in the audience. You even got "Shep" your dog involved. You were really active in Cokato High School participating in Declamatory contests, Operettas, Class Plays and Musicals and Senior Quartet with Glen Munson, Rslph Fleming and Cousin Clair Peterson. I can just picture you now up in heaven singing with those guys. You were a combination of fun, ability and talent. Later I was transferred by 3M to the New York area where we hooked up again. Our kids remembered the good times down on the Jersey Shore and the impressive Green Home at Elberon. They still recall the huge bonfire on the beach and Roger telling "spooky" stories while staring into bright flames. It was here we really came in contact with Jim Thomson a really great guy and we had things in common as we both were in sales. Also during that time when Roger was with Goodson-Todman Productions I appeared on to Tell The Truth hosted by Gary Moore. I stumped 3 out of 4 panelists,Roger remarked only a kid from Cokato could do that. These past years Jim has kept us appraised of Roger in his annual Christmas Letter. Ruth and I extend our sympathy to Dave and Joan as well to Jim, his great partner of the passing of a talented guy from Cokato, Roger Peterson
Dear Jim, we sre so sorry for your loss. I miss spending time with you down the shore. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.Love, Heidi, Dan, Ryan & Alex
It's hard to believe how many years ago we were all in Tobago together. Lots of pleasant memories. May you rest in eternal peace.
We are sorry for your loss. We'll always remeber the great times we had in West End. Love Anne & Matt
Jimbo, So many people in our lives are "larger than life", Roger was one of them. I know that he, Jeannie and Pat are dancing with the stars!!! Thinking of you with great affection always, Esther
You are always in my prayers and thoughts. Love Dorothy Lee
YES,IT WAS A GOOD RUN AND LOTS OF MEMORABLE TIMES. SEE YOU NEXT TIME AROUND. JIM AND OR
I have so many fond memories of Rog coming to Mom and Dad's place in NJ.and his trips out to Wyo. to visit them ot there. When Roger was around everyone had fun.
Oh those many laughs, Vodka's and dreaded deviled eggs of Ros'. We are all here to make a footprint of positive LOVE and energy for people-kind. You did that. All blessings and welcome to the angels, sweet Pisces. Nicolas, Jenna, Sam and wee ones.
Good bye Roger. Thanks for the laughter. Now, rest in Peace! Jim, my prayers and thoughts are for both of you. In the words of Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) "Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time to forgive life, to be at peace." That is the peace that Roger has now.
Roger standing on his head on the beach at Elberon and laughing and entertaining a houseful of guests! A dear man.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
We will miss Roger and his fun, happy ways. He was a wonderful, kind, creative man and made some fine contributions to American TV. Joe Marosi and Bill Hagel
I remember the first time I met Roger and the first time I was in his home on Plaza Court. I was very impressed with him and the photos and paintings that covered the walls. What a guy. We will miss him.
Roger was a dedicated and caring volunteer for almost 20 years who gave of himself to all of the clients in our Reading Department. We shall miss him and his happy outlook on life.
Jim - it's so wonderful you and Roger were able to spend 50 amazing years together. I can't imagine how difficult your loss is, but based on all you've shared about your life together, I know Roger will always be with you in spirit and in your heart. You're a very good friend and know I'm always here for you. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Hugh
Uncle Roger--From my very first memories, you were always "bigger than life""--my New York uncle who worked in television and knew all kinds of cool people and danced like a dream. We grew up at the shore, first visitng the big green house and then the Elberon place--each summer filled with singing, sunshine, charades, dinners and lots of laughs. I know you are still organizing the festivities and reunited with so many loved ones. Your are sorely missed here. Jimmy, my heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers.
Rog my good buddy- You will not believe the response I have received (on your behalf) sinceyou left me two weeks ago. The mass was so wonderful, with Rev. Dick ,and the mass cards, calls from around the country has overwhelmed.me. I know you are in a better place, but is it really has been so hard for me. We did have a beautiful run. Good-night good buddy. Your Jimmy 2 canes ,but to you, "Archibald"!P>S>) Sleep in the Lord, we all love,'til we meet again! Just a love of 50 years. I would love to turn the clocks back to (July 07th, 1961) at "{Stewart's Root-Beer Stand" in Avon By The Sea"
Remember Roger well during his visits to Cokato (spelled wrong above) to see his mother Ella. She was a sweet and seriously nice person. My parents filled us in on his television career that seriously impressed me and my brothers. I also recall people pointing and whispering, “He works with Gary Moore!“ The only other person from Cokato with any television fame is David Bromstad and that came way later. Hope the Boy Scouts of America don’t strip him of his Eagle award posthumously, but I wouldn’t put it past them. Sad he was no problem for Scouts 75 years ago in America‘s heartland, but would be banned if he was a kid now. RIP.
Only the kindest words for providing decades of happy memories. Rest in peace, dear Roger.
I never had the pleasure of knowing Roger personally, but I am blessed with the friendship of Jim. God bless you Roger and may you rest in peace until we all meet in Heaven. Always, Moe
We will always hold the memories close to our heart of the summers Roger visited us with Jim. Take Care
Jimmy, You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace Roger until you and Jimmy are together again. What a party that will be! Jim,you are in our thoughts and prayers.
It was a shock to hear the news of your passing.I've been thinking of that short holiday at your place on the beach. Was it really more than ten years ago? It was great to meet you. And I will remember you with great fondness. Jim our thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Cousin Roger was not just a wonderful friend and cousin, but the "favorite relative" of many in our family. His generosity, incredible sense of humor and genuine interest in all of us will remain an indelible memory. Jim, I join Betsy in expressing our deepest appreciation for all you have done for this wonderful guy. Thank you! God bless you! Bill
Not just one candle but an"illumination" of bright spots and happy memories: hospitality, fabulous good humor, theatre tickets NO ONE else could wrangle for out of town company, lasting friendships with the most elegant people whose faithfulness and thoughtfulness will be an inspiration forever. Thank you Jim for your call this morning and for everything you have done for the entire family in your loving care for Roger and communications with us. Mucho smoocho! Betsy and Bill
To my handsome, funny friend Roger. You & Jim will be in my memories forever!
Roger's presence was strongly felt at the memorial service on Friday. The photos on display brought back many of my childhood memories, including holidays my family shared with the Petersons and Quashnocks. I'll always give Roger credit for encouraging me to participate in charades and other games, which I now realize helped me overcome my early shyness. Jim & Billy, yesterday's tribute and reception were events Roger would have truly enjoyed!
Happy memories of Plaza Court, and the beach. Have fun in heaven.
Jim, our deepest sympathy. We remember Roger on our back deck at Corey's graduation party entertaining the ladies with all his captivating stories-they are gone now too-he was a dear sweet man-we will always remember that day
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Our thoughts are with you.
It is Friday, a few hours from Rog's services. I did not want to forget ourt dear friend Sr. Donna who will not be able to be with us today. Jim - My deepest condolences to you. I will always have great memories of our good times and escapades at the shore with you and Roger - the many parties at the beach, barhopping along the Jersey shore, just visiting with my Mom at the Elberon house or at Ricci and Jay's. So many good times with two great friends. Roger, you certainly will be missed! My love to you and to Jim - you are the best!
Only learned tonight that you had gone. You and Jim were the heart of Plaza Court. I treasure the memories of life with the two of you as neighbors and wish we could do it again. An older age lived with dignity and commitment to the blind. What an example for all of us. Jim, my sincere condolences and hope to see you soon.
Whenever I would stay at their house on the beach we would have cocktails and discuss numerous themes. Roger was intelligent and full of stories about his work in New york and L. A. Great person always positive and upbeat. He will be missed by many people.
Only fond memories of Roger. Great times at the shore-house. I can't think of Roger without putting a smile on my face. Heaven just got a whole lot funnier. Deepest sympathy to Jim and Peterson family.
"While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil." (J. Taylor). How happy will his loved ones be (including Evelyn - my beloved Mom Mom) when Roger joins them to dance again among the heavens. We will miss you.
My memories of going to our Elberon house will always include Jimmy and Roger. We shared many good times but one that stands out in my mind is the time that my Dad was sitting on the patio looking at the ocean when Jimmy and Roger came streaking down the bulkhead, dove into the ocean and proceeded to moon our house. Needless to say, it was something we all talked and laughed about for many years. Jimmy, my prayers and love come to you from Texas. Love, Lynn
We always had beautiful and fond memories of Roger. Peace be with you and your family. To our dear friend Jimmie, you have a special angel looking over you now.
Words will never be enough at this time but Jim please know how much you mean to both of us. We think of you everyday and are so blessed to have you as a part of our life. You are such a special person and we love you dearly. May all of your family and friends comfort you. May you find peace with your memories of your life with Roger. Much love!
Some of my fondest memories of Roger was all the fun and laughter he brought to Plaza Court. He made that dead end block full of life with lots of action! Rest in peace! Thinking of you Jim. Love, Joanne, Mike and the boys.
I will always remember this sweet man, who had only kind words for everyone.I have joyous memorys of having the very best dance partner ever. dance on dear roger.
a photo at the beach i grew up on in the summers in elberon, roger all hollywood fabulous tanned and jim with a big smile. all that entertainment world you were in, rog, and yet you were sweet and a kind guy. you'll be remembered for that.
My thoughts and prayers go oout to you Jimm, on this sad occasion. Roger was a wonderful person, and gentleman. THe only way we, as mortals can be conforted, is knowing that his work, here on earth was finished, and our Higher Power needs him someplace else. Hope he and my grandmother, Eveyln are having a good time together.
Our Dearest Roger. Your spirit is as bright as the candle we light for you here. We can still feel your warmth and will always remember your smile. We remember spending time with you on the beach in Elberon and having your amazing breakfast with Lady Margaret. Roger would always love to share his songbird voice and step into another character like it was his own. He was always very entertaining. No one ever took the light away from his presence. His light remains with us always. We love you Roger. The Lozada Family
Uncle Roger, we have so many fond memories of you and Jim. What fun all of us had visiting you at the Shore! Even though you've moved on, your sense of humor will live forever. We'll never forget "I have two words for you...", "Archibald...", "Hard of hearing!", "I bet you think there's a bottom to that tub...", and many more. You were always fun to be around, a good person, an awesome dancer, and a great uncle. Miss you. Thinking of you Jim.
Light a Candle *********** And I will light a candle for you. To shatter all the darkness and bless the times we knew. Like a beacon in the night The flame will burn bright and guide us on our way. Oh, today I light a candle for you. The seasons come and go, and I'm weary from the change. I keep on moving on, you know it's not the same. And when I'm walking all alone Do you hear me call your name? Do your hear me sing the songs we used to sing? You filled my life with wonder, touched me with surprise, Always saw that something special deep within your eyes. And through the good times and the bad, We carried on with pride. I hold onto the love and life we knew. And I will light a candle for you. To shatter all the darkness and bless the times we knew. Like a beacon in the night The flame will burn bright and guide us on our way. Oh, today I light a candle for you.
Miss Me **** Miss me, but let me go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me - but let me go For this is a journey that we must all take And each must go alone It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home When you are lonely, and sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me - but let me go
I never met Roger but I know of his wonderfulness through Jim Thomson. Though I was not a part of his world, I feel as though I always was, only because of Jim's awesome stories of their life together...Rest in peace dear Roger.
We have such happy memories of Roger and Jim, espcially visiting them at the shore and when they visited us in Australia. May you rest in peace, Roger. Much love.
Roger brought such joy to our lives as kids...on the beach, singing at the piano, laughing and just being. The love and friendship both Roger and Jimmy have shared with for so many years has meant the world to us. We will never forget you. With love, Meg and family
His warm personality and sense of humor will be truly be missed by all. I'm so very sorry for your loss Jim.
Roger, you brought so much into each of The McDowell's lives, but most particularly mine. You taught me to ski, introduced me to foods and personalities and taught me that a sunny disposition was the key to life. I never could stand on my head, though! Thanks for bringing smiles to all of us. And thanks for making Uncle Jim so happy all these years... Love, Mary
How can you think of Roger without smiling? Roger was a delightful, fun-loving snd entertaining gentle person and a dear friend.

About 20 years ago as I was boarding he Lexigton Avenue bus in NYC,I heard a voice from the back of the bus call out "Kitty are yiu done with rehab?" The bus was full and it seemed that all eyes were on me while Roger sat smiling.A dear friend these many years.David and I send our love and condolences.
Roger will always remain in my heart as a loving and loyal friend of my parents, Riccie and Jay. Thinking about all of our times on the beach together, (with Jimmy, too of course!) singing and enjoying the ocean breezes are some of the fondest memories in my life. Roger and Jimmy were present at every milestone of my life. They always supported my singing and acting career, attending performances and encouraging me. They were at my wedding and celebrated the birth of my children. I always felt happpy to be in their presence, to see their love of life and to know they would be there for us. True friendship is the most important gift a person can give, and Roger taught me that lesson. His love will live on!

The memory of you twirling my mom on the dance floor at her 60th birthday party 21 years ago ... the look of puzzlement on her face since you had never met and she had no idea who you were and the smile on your face as you cleared the dance floor dipping her repeatedly.
