Rose Couture, 92, of Holmdel, passed away Tuesday eve surrounded by many of her close-knit family and friends.
Rose was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and attended New Utrecht High School. Not long after WWII, she married the love of her life, Warren, at 17. They started and raised their family in Bensonhurst, where they lived for 30 more years before moving to NJ.
Rose raised five beautiful children; in 1960, with their ages 3-13, she started a career when few women had a place in the workforce. She first took a job as a full-charge bookkeeper, a trade she learned through working at her father’s plumbing business when she was only 15. Throughout Rose’s life, her passion was putting others first and making sure she provided the best life to everyone she touched, even if it meant stepping out of boundaries. Rose always loved to travel. While working full-time and raising her children, she began to explore the USA and even the world on multiple cruises and trips, starting with California, where her only sibling moved. As she aged, she combined her passion for fulfilling others’ lives with her love to travel. Knowing his beloved wife’s spirit, Warren told her that all people need to ‘Travel with Rose’, and from there, she launched a full-service Travel Concierge at her young yet older age of 70, in which she ran an extensive amount of trips a year till the day she passed. Rose was a leader and beyond a kindhearted woman who always put others’ needs in front of her own. She exemplified living life to its fullest. All will painfully miss her gracious and powerful spirit.
Rose is predeceased by her husband Warren Joseph Couture Sr. and her sister and brother-in-law Mena and Frank Storrs.
Rose is survived by her children Carol Ann Sweeney and her husband James of Smithtown, NY, Jo Ann Couture Buccellato and her husband Richard of Holmdel, Linda Couture and her husband Daryl Jones of North Carolina, Warren Joseph Couture Jr. and his wife Irene of Wall, and Rose Marie Couture DeSaro and her husband Dennis of Holmdel; her 14 adoring grandchildren and her beloved 25 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy.
On Friday, February 25th, Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, February 26th at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine’s R.C. Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. Entombment will follow indoors at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation on behalf of Rose’s grandson and great-grandson for Cystic Fibrosis to the Stanley Richard Foundation http://StanleyRichardFoundation.org.
