STEVE / I WISH I COULD COME TO YOUR WAKE TODAY. BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM. IN SEPT I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE ARTHRITIS IN MY RIGHT HIP WITH BONE TO BONE CONTACT IN MY RIGHT HIP. IT IS PAINFUL & DIFICULT FOR ME TO WALK NOW. I AM USING A WALKER IN MY APT. I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO ANOTHER WAKE FOR A FRIEND (JOHN HENDRIE) JUST YESTERDAY. BUT I COULD NOT GO. IT IS PAINFUL FOR ME TO GET IN AND OUT OF A TAXI (I DONT OWN A CAR). SO I WILL PRAY FOR YOU AT HOME. I THOUGHT OF YOU TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN MY BEAUTIFUL LA DODGERS KILLED YOUR NY YANKEES IN THE 2024 WORLD SERIES (SEE MY PHOTO). I DON'T THINK YOU WERE TOO HAPPY ABOUT THAT. BUT I SURE WAS !!! I HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF GROWING UP WITH YOU, JIMMY & LAURIE ON WOOLLEY AVE IN LONG BRANCH. GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS.

Having worked across the street from Mr. Pizza Slice for many years I looked forward to lunch as a constant source of camaraderie, story telling and laughter amongst the "Monmouth St regulars" all centered around Stevie Nap who shared not only his stories, laughter, grief , joys but also still the best Pizza I've ever had. I can still hear him saying...How Many? I will miss you, RIP my brother
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Peter Settles left a message on December 29, 2024:
I first met Steve when I was 16 years old and looking for a job. "Are you hiring? He answered: "Clean the backyard and we will see." To his surprise, I finished in record time. "Ok, go clean up the basement." Upon his inspection he said: "Your hired." That began a 20- year period, working full time through high school and then part time in college. He called me the "college kid." but what I learned from those years behind the counter --making pies and the best Italian hot dogs around --was as important to building my future as college was. I learned how to deal with the most difficult customers with a smile and made so many friends along the way. Steve was demanding but taught me so many lessons. Some people say if you can operate a business for 10 years, you are a success. Steve did it for more than 40 years and left a legacy that many will try to reach. In recent years, I kept in touch with Steve at the Atlantic Club, where he fought to the end to keep his body strong. I will always remember Steve as a true friend and boss, and so happy that he hired me that September day in 1970. God bless Steve and his family.
Terry Laskowski left a message on December 29, 2024:
"Big Stevie”, in both stature and character, you were a force to be reckoned with—from managing a Daily Record paper route with 60 customers at the age of 12 to becoming the one and only Mr. Pizza Slice. But you were so much more: a loving family man, a devoted son, and a keeper of family history. You were truly a character, full of wit, and in life, you always did it your way! Cousin, Terry, Japan

The few times I met Big Steve, he was always so full of life, upbeat, and clearly so proud of his kids and grandkids. His energy was unparalleled and you can see his work ethic in every Napolitani we know. Our sincerest condolences to all of you. The DeCock Family
