Suzanne B. Schlesinger passed away on August 19th, 2022, in the company of her beloved husband Louie.
Suzanne was born in New Brunswick New Jersey and lived there before settling in Colts Neck over 20 years ago. She was a parishioner of St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church serving as a eucharistic minister and a member of the Lazarus ministry. Suzanne was also involved in many fundraising events at the church. Attendants of St Mary’s will remember an immaculately dressed woman, with a ready smile and a quick wit.
She is survived by her husband Louie Mavrookas, her stepson George, her beloved grandson Leonidas, sister and brother-in-law Kim and Mike Mento, and her niece and nephew; Jordan and Michael in addition to other friends and family who loved her very much.
She is predeceased by her parents Evelyn and John Bialkowski and her grandmother Helen Canavesio.
Suzanne was a tough woman and brought it to bear as a successful contractor with the US government in a male-dominated field. Those who were able to pierce this exterior will also know Suzanne as an amazing friend and family member. She loved the military and would host servicemen stationed in New Jersey and donated food on holidays. She was an excellent cook and was able to organize the dishwasher in such a way that others would have needed 3 machines to fit what she did. Suzanne loved to shop and enjoyed her shoe collection. Any visit to Suzanne and Louie’s house would include food, drink, laughs, and capped off with her favorite Hallmark movie.
She loved to shop at Sak’s, Nieman Marcus and Nordstroms. When she is in Florida, she enjoys shopping on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. Suzanne enjoys playing golf, being at the beach in Florida, going to the movies and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
Suzanne will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, August 26th from 5 to 8 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road. Holmdel, NJ. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 27th at 11 AM at St Mary’s RC Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck N.J.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions in her name be made to St Mary’s RC Church or the American Cancer Society.
