Timothy R. Lutz, 73, of Lincroft, passed away Wednesday morning surrounded by his family.
Timothy was born and raised in the Bronx until he was 14 years old, when he moved to Staten Island. He would attend Port Richmond High School and then further his studies at Staten Island College, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He would begin his career at the Institute of Basic Research but would eventually leave to work at Domino Sugar where he would remain for 30 years. Following his retirement from Domino he would start a second career at Red Bank Catholic as a Calculus and Physics teacher, where he stayed for 13 years and played an integral part in developing their engineering program.
Timothy married the love of his life, Patricia, on April 8th, 1972, and the two would settle in Staten Island to raise their family until ultimately moving to Lincroft. Timothy was an avid Jets fan but would say his favorite team was the Holmdel Hornets. Tim loved trips to Cape May, painting in his later years, and doing anything with and for his grandchildren: going to his granddaughter Madeline’s music recitals and theater performances, and his grandson Connor’s football, baseball and basketball games.
Timothy is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his daughter Michele Fields and her husband Ryan; his sisters-in-law Edie, Cathy and Carolyn and her husband Steve; his beloved grandchildren Madeline and Connor. He is also survived by his sister Susan and his brother John.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, January 26th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Saturday, January 27th at 9:30 AM at St. Leo the Great Church, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft. A burial will follow at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jersey Shore Medical Foundation or K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital
