Tina Marie Alicea, 70 of Jackson died on Friday, May 14.
She was born in Puerto Rico in 1950 to the late Justina and Juan Ortega.
When Tina was 8 years old, she moved to the United States to begin a new life with her adoptive mother Maria Alicea in Lakewood. After high school, Tina graduated from Brookdale Community College and began her life’s work and passion in caring for others in the nursing field.
She enjoyed food, especially Puerto Rican food, daytime television, and watching the NY Yankees. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her siblings Juango Ortega Robles, Ana Leyda Guzman Robles, Juangi Ortega Robles, Hilda Guzman Robles, and Edwin Guzman Robles.
Surviving are her daughters: Carol and her husband Travis Abel of Jackson, and Ruth A. Lugo of Long Branch; two siblings Hilda Guzman Robles and Hiram Guzman Robles, four grandchildren Alexandria, Christian, Naomi, and Dominic, and her partner, Melvin Rogers.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 19th from 2-4 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tina to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; www.stjude.org.
