Tsunpo “Linda” Li died peacefully at the age of 71 with her loving husband, Robert, by her side on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at their home in Morganville, NJ.
Linda was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 1951 and was the eldest of four girls. She began dating Robert in 1971 and they married on November 12th, 1977. For better opportunities, Robert traveled to the United States in 1983 to lay a foundation for his family. Linda, carrying 2 young children and 5 large suitcases, reunited with her husband in New York City in 1985. Not long after, the family moved to Lake Hiawatha, NJ where they built beautiful memories with their children, Albert and Sherry. They finally settled in Morganville in 2007.
She loved to travel, visiting Alaska, Russia, Italy, France, Egypt, Istanbul, Italy, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Japan. She also took several trips back to visit her family in Taiwan. Linda loved to shop in each of her destinations to buy something small that would be a reminder of her time in each country. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, singing karaoke and watching Korean dramas. Linda took pride in her cooking and recently became a fan of cooking shows.
Linda enjoyed visiting and working in New York City. She especially enjoyed Broadway shows. Her favorite show was The Lion King, and she was fortunate to see Julie Andrews perform on Broadway.
She was educated in Taiwan and received her bachelor’s degree from Tamkang University in Taipei. Linda began her career in Taiwan as a high school English teacher. When she came to the United States, she worked as an accountant for the Bank of New York, from which she eventually retired.
As a devoted wife and mother, she was diligent in her children’s education. Linda always felt her greatest accomplishment was her children.
Surviving is her husband Robert Ke-Zan Li; two children, Albert Cheng-Chia Li and his wife Angela Young Shih of Livingston and Sherry Ching-Fen Bachalis and her husband Daniel Justin Bachalis of Hillsborough; two sisters, Shu Shu (Helen) Liu and her husband Chung-Hai Hsieh of Taipei and Cher Lo and her husband Ron Lo of Holmdel; her grandchildren, Isabella Aurora and Christopher Mateo Li and Vienna Grace and Ember Lynn Bachalis. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lee Ku Liu, and her parents, Duan-Min Wu and Ren-Chou Liu.
Friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 10 o’clock until the time of her funeral service at 12 noon at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Interment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Rt. 79, Marlboro.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directly made to the Rutgers University Foundation, https://support.rutgers.edu, annualgiving@ruf.rutgers.edu, 848-932-8800, PO Box 193, New Brunswick, NJ 08903, in care of the “Li and Shih Family Excellence in Medicine Endowed Scholarship” already established in her honor.
