William J. Lyons, 85 of Holmdel, passed away Thursday surrounded by his family.

He was born and raised in Jersey City, he eventually move to Port Monmouth where he raised his young family. In retirement he moved to Holmdel to live with his daughter.

In 1987 William joined Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd degree knight, later to become an Honorary life member of Jamesburg #6336 Knights of Columbus

His family will remember him as a humorous, kind, loving and supportive person who was always there when needed help or advice.

William enjoyed gardening, bird watching and an avid documentary watcher.

William is survived by his children William C. Lyons, Patricia McNerney and Elaine Lyons, his grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Billy Jr., Michele, Melissa, Markus, Racheal, Jennifer and Christine. He is also survived by many great grandchildren.

William will be cremated and there will be a memorial on Tuesday ight at his granddaughter’s home in Port Monmouth. Please contact a family member for details.
