Winnie and my mother, Mary O'Donnell Smith, were best friends in high school. So Winnie and John became our "aunt and uncle" every since I can remember. Winnie was my sister's godmother and John was my godfather. As children we eagerly looked forward to visiting them in Fords NJ and were so excited to see their new home in Colts Neck 29 years ago. Over the years, they were always so kind and genuinely excited to see us as they welcomed our spouses and our children into their home during the holidays. I spoke to Winnie just two days before her passing and we had a very nice talk. Both she and John were two wonderful human beings.
